Fergie’s Inspiration For Fighting HIV

Fergie Many of you might not know that HIV/AIDS has affected Fergie personally. She has known people close to her that have died from this awful virus. So it is no wonder that she works so hard with MAC Cosmetics to raise money for HIV prevention.

According to the Associated Press she recently spent some time in New York at Safe Space’s Manhattan Youth High-Risk Drop-In Center where she watched the young people there perform skits and recite poetry about the importance of HIV awareness and prevention.

She knows that promiscuity plays a large role in the spread of the disease and when asked about her views on sexual activity she said:

“I was taught not to take it lightly. That was because of my upbringing. I might dance sexy in the videos and do all that, but this in issue I take very seriously. That’s for show. There’s performance and then there’s real life.”

It’s good to hear a celebrity of Fergie’s stature speak out about the differences between reality and performing. Maybe it will help young girls who don’t see a difference and think that it is okay to act provocatively in their real lives.
